Fereday Island is situated
80 km south of Christchurch, New Zealand.
The island runs further up the river than its larger neighbour
Rakaia Island which is situated in the mouth. Originally started as
a rabbit farm, its main business now is dairying but there are many other skills
amongst the Fereday Group, which can be viewed at this web site,
such as cooking and
family tree research,
and one of our specialites is in renewable energy. One of our projects includes a
mini hydro turbine.
Fereday Island at present is running around 1000 cows over a 857 ha
block of land.
