Irrigation Canal (Head Race) The fortunate situation with Fereday Island is that there is a large area which is a boarder dyke irrigation system, and it was possible to tidy these canals up for the hydro generator. While these were being tidied up there height was being increased and there depth was being deepened. It was hard work yet fun. With the bit of extra height and depth, we were aiming for our head of 5 meters which looked more and more achievable. Below is a picture of the first section of the canal. Then came to the preparation for the power house.
